MILCON Project Manager

Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking an experienced Planner or Project Manager for Military Construction (MILCON) projects in the Pacific. This position is located at Hickam AFB (JBPHH), Hawaii.

Candidate will work as an integral part of our team supporting the planning, design, and construction of large ($5M - $500M) construction projects for the Air Force throughout the Pacific. For these projects we work side-by-side with the Air Force client to develop requirements, lead planning and design charrettes, coordinate with other DoD agencies for project approvals, manage the design, provide technical reviews, and proactively engage with agents and stakeholders to manage the Air Force's interests in the project.

Clients include the Air Force Installation Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) Det 2, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and Air Force installations, among other agencies.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for MILCON Project Manager:

Pay commensurate with experience.

MILCON Project Manager Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage large construction projects ($5M to $500M) from requirements development through design and construction as part of headquarters-level Air Force execution team working closely with mission planners, facility users, the design and construction agent (USACE/NAVFAC), engineering subject matter experts (SMEs), and installation personnel.
  • Coordinate with leadership and headquarters to develop background papers, briefing slides, respond to quick-turn requests for information (RFIs), and provide similar HQ support.
  • Review/analyze UFCs, AFIs, and other guidance documents applicable to design and construction of vertical and horizontal facilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (in some cases experience may be substituted for the degree requirement); engineering degree preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant experience working with US military/DoD facilities and requirements (preferably with US Air Force facilities).
  • Experience at a US military headquarters-level organization in basing, beddowns, or programs in transition.
  • Experience with all phases of DoD facility development (planning/programming, design, and construction) preferred.
  • Specific knowledge of DoD construction processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, complex facility design/construction projects including proactively resolving project challenges.
  • Understanding of Architectural & Engineering (A&E) utilization and contracts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DoD/Air Force software tools for project data, reports, cost estimating, and scheduling is a plus.
  • Track record of working collaboratively with clients/customers to identify issues and solve problems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities.
  • Excellent English communication.
  • Excellent computer skills.
