Job Description
ECS is seeking a Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer) to work in our Newington, VA office.
ECS is proud to support a new 5-year contract with the FBI's Operational Technology Division (OTD) Research & Development Support Program.
This program delivers innovative research, development, and IT infrastructure solutions that enable the FBI's mission. Our work spans IT Support, Cybersecurity, IT Services, and Administrative Compliance-all aimed at solving today's most complex technical and investigative challenges.
As a Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer), you'll apply your technical expertise to analyze, deconstruct, and understand software and firmware systems. Working within Agile teams, you'll assist senior engineers in discovering vulnerabilities, refining security controls, and supporting the creation of tools and techniques that strengthen the FBI's technical capabilities.

As a Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer), you'll apply your technical expertise to analyze, deconstruct, and understand software and firmware systems. Responsibilities
- Reverse Engineering: Assist in analyzing software binaries, firmware, and systems to understand functionality, uncover vulnerabilities, and extract proprietary algorithms.
- Vulnerability Identification: Contribute to identifying and assessing security weaknesses, design flaws, and exploitable code paths.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work with developers, analysts, and security engineers to resolve complex technical challenges and develop effective mitigations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation, findings, and reports summarizing analysis, methodologies, and recommendations.
- Continuous Improvement: Support process optimization by implementing best practices and helping integrate modern reverse-engineering techniques into the team's workflow.
- Active Top Secret with eligibility for SCI w/ CI Poly.
- 5+ years of experience in reverse engineering, cybersecurity, or software development roles.
- 3+ years of experience in Agile environments.
- Exposure to reverse engineering tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, JEB, Hopper) and basic understanding of software debugging.
- Location: Newington, VA - Hybrid work environment with the potential to work two days onsite and three days remote each week, depending on mission needs.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Familiarity with C, C++, Python, or Java and comfort working across multiple OS environments (Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
