- Design and integrate APIs, data pipelines, and microservice-based systems that enable interoperability across mission and analytical environments.
- Develop modular architectures that adhere to open standards and are adaptable to changing mission needs.
- Define and enforce architectural principles, patterns, and best practices across software and platform teams.
- Cloud Engineering & DevSecOps
- Engineer solutions in AWS GovCloud or hybrid IL4-IL6 environments with strong security and compliance standards.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK) for consistent provisioning and configuration management.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate secure deployments, testing, and accreditation workflows.
- Ensure platform designs support zero-trust security principles and multi-enclave integration.
- Data Infrastructure & Orchestration
- Design or operate large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration environments (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Databricks, or similar).
- Shape data strategies balancing performance, cost, and compliance across mission environments.
- Enable secure, efficient data sharing and access patterns to support analytical, AI/ML, and simulation workloads.
- Security & Resilience
- Engineer architectures for redundancy, cross-domain integration, and resilience under degraded or disconnected conditions.
- Support ATO and mission accreditation processes through secure enclave design and automation of compliance controls.
- Integrate observability and monitoring into all systems to ensure operational assurance and mission continuity.
- Operationalization & Sustainment
- Transition systems from prototype to production, ensuring maintainability, observability, and configuration drift management.
- Develop strategies for continuous improvement and scalability across evolving workloads.
- Partner with program leadership to align sustainment strategies with mission lifecycle requirements.
- Innovation & Ecosystem Integration
- Incorporate emerging technologies and open architectures into operational environments.
- Bridge research and development efforts into fielded, accredited platforms.
- Evaluate and adopt new tools or frameworks that improve performance, developer experience, or security posture.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead through technical authority, design clarity, and mentorship.
- Mentor software engineers and architects across teams, raising technical capability and architectural discipline.
- Collaborate with other Distinguished Engineers, Product Management, and Business Development to align platform design with strategic innovation goals.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both executive and technical audience
