Description
Vistra is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to apply high level understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles to design training and practical learning tools (e.g., workshops, capacity-building resources, continuing education modules) delivered with expert facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
This position is primarily remote but is required to reside in the National Capital Region (NCR), with ad hoc on-site requirements at the Mark Center and/or Pentagon.

Vistra is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to apply high level understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles to design training and practical learning tools (e.g., workshops, capacity-building resources, continuing education modules) delivered with expert facilitation and stakeholder engagement.

- Develop and execute learning objectives, curriculum, content, collateral, and evaluation plans for instructor led and online continuing education courses
- Analyze strategy, curriculum design and development, and content delivery and facilitation
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design models to create engaging, immersive training
- Develop and execute training needs assessments and evaluations
- Deliver complex, sensitive content clearly and empathetically to varied audience
- Provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations (e.g., email, leadership briefings, training slides, one pagers)
- Work independently, with some guidance to ensure, high fidelity of training and technical assistance activities with relevance to the military environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of directly related experience
- Experience with learning analysis and strategy, curriculum design and development, and content delivery and facilitation
- Experience with Learning Management Systems such as JKO
- Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design models to create engaging, immersive training
- Experience with training needs assessments and evaluation
- Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within military communities, with fluency in military structure, culture, and language
- Experience delivering or developing trauma-informed and sensitive subject matter training
- Experience in community health education or training public health personnel
- Familiarity with DoD/Federal policies, guidance, and resources related to sexual assault and prevention
- Change Management or User Design experience/certifications
- Design-enthusiast and skills with MS PowerPoint
- Master's degree in instructional design, education, psychology, public health, or a related field
