The EHS Manager performs general environmental, health and safety support services, investigations and analyses and other-directed assignments. Develops, implements, and administers environmental, health, and safety protection, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection. Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illnesses.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the management and performance of the Environmental Health and Safety team. Oversee goal development and provide regular feedback.
  • Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
  • Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and procedures manuals.
  • Establishes and maintains licenses and permits as required.
  • Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
  • May function as a generalist responsible for multiple ES&H facets on a small project or as a specialist on larger projects.
  • ES&H Specialists are expected to pursue and/or complete ES&H related professional. Participates in safety committee meetings as required.
  • Maintain health and safety within the workplace by promoting safety awareness initiatives, discussions and trainings, encouraging a safety focused culture and participating and reviewing risk assessments for those under their supervision.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in safety, health or industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or demonstrated equivalent
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certificate
  • Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certificate


Desirable

  • Certificate IV - Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Chartered Member of the Institution of
  • Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP), Certified
  • Ergonomic Associate (CEA), and Certified
  • Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

  • 7-10 years' experience in a similar role
  • Maintain expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
  • Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.
  • Assignments are usually self-initiated.
  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures. Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
  • Must possess working knowledge of the: ◦Australian Work Health Safety Act 2011
  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards.
  • Develop and conduct employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Prepares reports and recommends corrective action. Work includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.
  • Acts as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel


WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Typical construction environment with associated hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs and routine lifting to 22kgs, kneeling, standing, grasping, and walking, routinely sitting with occasional use of computer and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines and possess planning/organizing skills.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance w/ Poly.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned to work shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English


EHS REQUIREMENT

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While Amentum is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the EHS Handbook, each person is responsible for:

  • Completing work tasks in a safe manner
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager
  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook during the performance of their work
  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to "STOP WORK" if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
