Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in La Mesa, CA . The Civil Engineer will work closely with staff in the preparation of grading plans, improvement plans, erosion control plans, legal plats, subdivision maps, parcel maps, topographic surveys and many other documents from the entitlement phase through record plans on various project types.
Responsibilities of the Senior Civil Engineer include:
· Lead and manage civil engineering projects across land development, infrastructure, transportation, and water resources.
· Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering clear communication, satisfaction, and long-term partnerships.
· Supervise multidisciplinary project teams, delegate responsibilities, and mentor junior engineers and staff.
· Define project scopes, develop schedules and budgets, and oversee the delivery of technical documentation.
· Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
· Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, permitting processes, and industry standards.
· Track project milestones, mitigate risks, and address technical and scheduling challenges.
· Contribute to business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and participation in industry events.
· Champion quality assurance, safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications for the Senior Civil Engineer include:
· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
· Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
· 10-15+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, including 3-5 years in a project management capacity.
· Valid driver's license.
· In-depth knowledge of civil engineering design principles, applicable codes, and industry standards.
· Demonstrated success in managing project budgets, schedules, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
· Strong communication, leadership, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
· Proficient in engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent.
Compensation for the Senior Civil Engineer includes:
· Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 depending on experience
