The Computer/Data Scientist will support the development and automation of business processes for the Niskayuna Site using Microsoft Power Platform tools. The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and project stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain secure, efficient, and data-driven applications that streamline operational workflows. This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to project documentation and reporting standards consistent with DOE/Navy contractor environments.

The Computer/Data Scientist will support the development and automation of business processes for the Niskayuna Site using Microsoft Power Platform tools. The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and project stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain secure, efficient, and data-driven applications that streamline operational workflows. This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to project documentation and reporting standards consistent with DOE/Navy contractor environments.
- NOTE: This role does require work to be done onsite at the Niskayuna, NY location regularly, but this position can be done remotely 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement applications using Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, to automate workflows and deliver actionable data insights.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including defined milestones, deliverables, and progress tracking.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including developer user guides describing custom applications, workflows, and reporting structures.
- Create end-user guides and deliver training sessions to ensure personnel are equipped to effectively utilize Power Platform solutions.
- Provide weekly project status updates and promptly communicate schedule variances exceeding eight (8) hours to project stakeholders.
- Ensure all solutions adhere to applicable cybersecurity, safety, and compliance standards in alignment with DOE and Naval Nuclear Laboratory requirements.
- Support data governance, configuration management, and version control practices for all developed applications.
Qualifications
- Must have active DOE L clearance or a DoD Secret clearance to be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent relevant experience.
- 4-6 years of experience in application development, including a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power Platform tools.
- Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting functional requirements in collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document processes and present technical information clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience developing and maintaining project schedules and deliverables in structured or regulated environments.
- Potential for telework up to 50%.
Desired:
- Knowledge or experience in database design, development, and data integration.
- Familiarity with enterprise data visualization and reporting best practices.
- Experience supporting projects in DOE, DOD, or other highly regulated government environments.
- Understanding of secure software development and data handling practices.

- 5-9 years of experience - $120,000-$127,000
- 10+ years of experience - $128,000-$145,000
