Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly qualified Acquisition Specialist SME to support the United States Space Force (USSF) and the Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Program Office. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the success of cutting-edge space operations and mission readiness.
In this role, you will provide expert acquisition support to government stakeholders by conducting comprehensive market research, developing acquisition strategies, and assisting in the preparation and execution of Requests for Proposals (RFPs). You will play a critical role in evaluating technical proposals to ensure compliance with mission objectives, program requirements, and applicable acquisition regulations.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in DoD acquisition and procurement processes, capable of guiding complex procurements and shaping long-term strategic acquisition goals in support of the USSF mission.
Key Responsibilities
The Acquisition Specialist SME will:
* Provide expert acquisition support throughout all phases of the DoD acquisition life cycle, including strategy development, market research, source selection, and contract execution
* Support Air Force and Space Force acquisition programs by integrating cost, schedule, and performance objectives into actionable strategies
* Conduct and analyze market research to inform acquisition planning and identify qualified sources
* Assist in the development of evaluation criteria, contract requirements, and acquisition documentation in accordance with DoD and USSF policies
* Contribute to risk management efforts, proactively identifying and mitigating potential acquisition or program risks
* Provide insight and recommendations aligned with the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process to ensure program efficiency and resource alignment
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and stakeholders to ensure acquisition efforts meet mission and program objectives
* Support science and technology and product development programs, delivering acquisition expertise to program offices or equivalent environments
Required Skills & Experience
The Acquisition Specialist SME must have:
* Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
* 10+ years of hands-on DoD acquisition and contracting experience, with full life cycle involvement
* Proven success managing complex acquisition programs in dynamic, mission-focused environments
* In-depth knowledge of Air Force and Space Force acquisition policies and procedures
* Strong understanding of risk management, PPBE, and cost-schedule-performance integration
* Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership
* Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; experienced in engaging senior and executive-level DoD stakeholders
* Comprehensive understanding of U.S. Space Force structure, mission objectives, and key stakeholder priorities
Education and Certifications
The Acquisition Specialist SME must meet the following:
Required
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Preferred
* Master's degree in a related field
* Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Program Management or related functional areas
* Project Management Professional certification
