The Database Administrator (DBA) - Senior provides comprehensive support for the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise databases. This role is responsible for managing all activities related to the administration of computerized databases, ensuring that systems are properly designed, maintained, and optimized to support enterprise information systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
• Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.
• Design, create, and maintain databases in a client/server environment.
• Conduct quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
• Advise users on access to various client/server databases.
• Design, implement, and maintain complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
• Apply knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).
• Perform database programming and support systems design.
• Maintain database dictionaries, monitor standards and procedures, manage file design and storage, and support integration of systems through database design.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Seven (7) years of progressive experience with database query languages such as Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access.
• Five (5) years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
• Experience working with multiple operating systems and additional programming languages.
• Participation in at least two (2) projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing large-scale computer databases.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Experience in enterprise environments with complex, integrated systems.
• Ability to analyze and optimize database performance and storage configurations.
• Familiarity with federal or DoD database standards and compliance practices.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
CLEARANCE:
• Must possess an IT-I Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 5 (T5).
