The Computer Systems Specialist - Senior provides advanced technical leadership in the design, development, management, and evaluation of state-of-the-art computer hardware, software, and related development tools. This role leads or supervises teams of specialists engaged in system design and integration, ensuring optimal use of hardware and software resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead or supervise a team of specialists in developing, managing, maintaining, and evaluating current state-of-the-art computer hardware, software, and software development tools.
• Determine processes and costs for converting computer systems from one language or platform to another through the use of compilers, simulators, emulators, or language translators.
• Recommend and implement improved utilization of operating system capabilities to enhance system efficiency through conversion or migration activities.
• Evaluate applications to ensure compatibility and integration with other equipment and systems.
• Identify potential and existing system bottlenecks, propose actionable solutions, and recommend system improvements to achieve optimal hardware and software utilization.
• Support performance analysis and ensure systems operate within expected thresholds for reliability and scalability.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Seven (7) years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading or supervising teams of specialists in the design, development, and management of complex hardware and software systems.
• Expertise with current state-of-the-art computer systems, software development tools, and system integration practices.
• Knowledge of system conversion, emulation, and translation techniques using compilers, simulators, emulators, or language translators.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Experience evaluating applications and systems in large-scale enterprise or federal environments.
• Familiarity with migration planning, performance tuning, and capacity management.
• Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
CLEARANCE:
• Must possess an IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3).
