Description:Lockheed Martin Enterprise Operations is seeking an attorney to lead labor and employment litigation for all Lockheed Martin business areas (e.g. Enterprise Operations, Space, Aero, MFC and RMS). This new role will encompass all aspects of labor and employment litigation and pre-litigation assessments for all business areas. For matters that have the prospect of generating litigation in court or similar litigation-style proceedings before administrative agencies, the role will include working closely with labor and employment attorneys providing counseling and advisory services to assess pre-litigation resolution options for assessment compared to potential litigation pathways. This position will report to the recently established position of Director of Labor and Employment Litigation, Enterprise Operations.

We are seeking an attorney having a minimum of ten years of labor and employment experience, including substantial litigation experience in such matters. The successful candidate will have extensive motion and discovery drafting experience, witness preparation and deposition experience, and a demonstrated record of developing and implementing case strategy and efficient dispute resolution, including recognizing and promoting settlement opportunities when appropriate. Courtroom trial and mediation experience are helpful

This position will require day-to-day management of a caseload involving interesting and varied labor and employment litigation issues and entails substantial coordination with the relevant business area and internal clients with a focus on serving the particular business area objectives, as well as the overall interests of Lockheed Martin. You will be responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive case strategies, selection and management of outside counsel, and developing and training paralegals. The substance of cases will vary from individual labor and employment claims, to class actions, across the full range of labor employment issues, such as discrimination and harassment allegations, wage and hour disputes, ERISA claims and other similar topics. Familiarity with allowability determinations and class actions is desirable. The candidate must be willing and able to go to court, take and defend depositions, and write persuasive motions, responses and briefs. Travel for case-related events, sometimes on short notice, is required. This role will also serve as a primary resource for developing lessons learned as a result of individual litigation matters and working collaboratively to assist both labor and employment counseling attorneys and Human Resources personnel in incorporating such lessons, into Lockheed Martin policies and procedures when appropriate. This role generally will not prepare responses to EEOC and state employment agency discrimination charges and other types of employment-related claims except where such an agency's procedures involve elements strongly resembling contested litigation.

The successful candidate will also assist where time and work levels demand in other types of non-employment litigation, such as commercial disputes or other matters.

The ideal candidate will have a meaningful and diverse background in some or all of the following: labor and employment defense experience at a top-tier law firm or boutique; U.S. government litigation experience; in-house experience within the aerospace or other highly regulated industry. Strong organizational, analytical, writing and verbal skills and high emotional intelligence are key. Work co-location with an active LM operating location is preferred.
