Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Provide assistance on test equipment maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of explosive, ignition, propulsive and electronics systems with the use of hand and power tools. Perform inspection by using measuring/inspection tools by following procedures and applying operational test methods of functional test equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Determine the nature and scope of repairs, adjustments, and/or replacement of electronic missile components
- Conduct repairs on complete missile systems including various guidance units, control section assemblies, and the electrical interfaces between the nosecone and control section.
- Reassemble major components of electronic missile systems including the installation of Modification Work Orders (MWOs)
- Conduct tests to fault isolate failure modes
- Test major components of missiles using system peculiar or special test equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Adjust/calibrate electronic test equipment to ensure that all defects have been corrected.
- Fabricate and/or modify electronic testing equipment for special purposes
- Repair missile system test consoles and other electronic equipment used in the repair of missile systems
- Trace circuits by reference to detailed diagrams in order to secure information on current flow
- Decan missiles using specially designed handling equipment
- Recan missiles and components (explosive, electrical and electronic) ensuring all are properly grounded
- Ensure all explosive and industrial safety precautions are adhered to during missile maintenance operations
- Use diagnostic logic to identify and isolate malfunctions and/or components of missiles not conforming within acceptable operational parameters
- Determine malfunctions by interpreting data and communication generated from electronic data banks
- Check circuits, voltage regulators, and other electronic components when components/systems fail the test series

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must undergo a physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter
- This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent is subject to a random drug test.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position
- Incumbent may be required to lift items in excess of 45 lbs
- Must wear protective clothing and use safety equipment when handling hazardous materials and explosives
- Incumbent is required to meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of appointment

- Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Frequently handles items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, and lifting in handling, pulling, and pushing of missile and dollies. Incumbent must pass physical examination for positions involving hazardous propellants and explosives.
- Work is performed inside of shops that are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated or at site where weather elements such as heat, cold, or rain are a factor. Is exposed to serious burns or other accidents from working on high voltage electronic equipment and is also subject to possible exposure to radio frequency radiation. Must also wear protective clothing and use safety equipment when handling hazardous materials and explosives.
