Description of Duties:

Position Title: Security Assistant

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Relocation Assistance: None available at this time

Remote/Telework: NO - Not available for this position

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

The Security Assistant supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

· Provide security support to the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense Program.

· Receive and process incoming and outgoing visitor access requests

· Assist with access control of designated areas.

· Serve as the alternate block captain to ensure safety of workforce, reporting safety hazards and assisting with evacuations.

· Ensure Incident reporting issues are promptly reported throughout investigation period to include initial, follow-up and final report.

· Conduct INFOSEC self-inspections and participate in INFOSEC reviews.

· Attend quarterly security manager meetings.

· Assist with writing and updating standard operating procedures (SOP) to capture changes in processes and/or procedures.

· Participate in weekly team meetings.

· Assist with the management of security documents and databases

· Report any suspected compromise or loss of classified information to the Facility Security Manager.

· Assist the Facility Security Manager with daily operations supporting mission functions, instructor led training and coordinating event support.

· Prepare and conduct security briefings as required to support onsite operations.

· Provide comprehensive support to the MDA/GM Security Manager and Facility Security Manager to include General Services Administration (GSA) safe assignments.

· Support the Facility Security Manager with additional duties as required.

The successful candidate will:

· Be able to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment

· Be able to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results.

· Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to the Facility Security Manager.

· Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with senior customer management and customers.

· Be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

· Customer service and a positive attitude are a must.

· Ability to discreetly handle sensitive information.

Qualifications - External

Basic Requirements:

· Must have 3, or more, years of experience in a DoD environment

· Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Must have experience with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)

· Must have knowledge and understanding of DoDM 5200.1

· Must have experience in a classified environment

· Must have experience with safeguarding classified material

· Must have knowledge of the CFR 32 Part 117 “National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)

· Must have an understanding of classified document markings

· Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Requirements:

· Must have completed FSO Curriculum for Possessing Facilities (CDSE).

· Have previous security experience within or supporting DoD programs.

This position is expected to pay $100,000 - $112,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
