Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of CUMMINS, MTU and / or CATAPILLER marine engines
- Research and develop ship propulsion systems, to include, but not limited to: diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems, and apply to applicable design and requirements.
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery
- Review and develop technical data packages
- Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements
- Conduct and oversee trade studies.
- Provide knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field or High School Diploma and 6+ years of additional experience
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Experience on US Coast Guard or US Navy Ships
- Experience with MTU diesel engines including machinery control systems.
- MTU 1B dongle certification.
- Minimum MTU CE3 certification (1B dongle) for ECS-UNI/ADEC-UNI, ECU-7, SAM, MCS5, and RCS5.
