Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role will play a mission-critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity systems, as well as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services.
You will be at the intersection of enterprise storage, virtualization, and mission system engineering, ensuring the stability, performance, and modernization of critical environments. The role combines hands-on expertise with Nutanix and NetApp platforms, integration across multi-OS environments, and collaboration with cybersecurity initiatives to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide engineering expertise in Nutanix and NetApp platforms, including configuration, optimization, and lifecycle support.
* Support the design, integration, and deployment of enterprise-class storage and virtualization solutions in mission-critical environments.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems and networks meet compliance and security requirements.
* Perform system design, capacity planning, and performance optimization across distributed infrastructures.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues impacting enterprise storage, virtualization, and multi-OS environments.
* Document system configurations, designs, and implementation strategies for customer delivery.
* Provide technical leadership and consultation to mission stakeholders and team members.
Required Qualifications
* Significant hands-on experience with NetApp storage solutions (configuration, optimization, lifecycle support).
* Significant hands-on experience with Nutanix platforms (setup, administration, performance tuning).
* Demonstrated experience with Windows & Linux/CentOS server administration.
* Proven expertise managing and troubleshooting enterprise virtualization environments.
* Strong ability to perform complex problem identification, research, and resolution.
* Experience designing and maintaining secure, mission-critical infrastructures.
* Demonstrated ability to work across multi-OS and enterprise environments.
* Excellent customer service and stakeholder communication skills.
* Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation and SOPs.
Preferred Skills
* Familiarity with multiple hypervisors (Hyper-V, ESX, VirtualBox).
* Knowledge of Cisco OS platforms (iOS, NexusOS).
* Experience with Windows enterprise management (Active Directory, SCOM, VMM).
* Understanding of enterprise risk identification and mitigation.
* Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid integrations.
* Experience supporting cybersecurity-focused initiatives.
Education
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
* Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
