Description:
Our client is a leading federal integrator supporting complex IT infrastructure and enterprise solutions for government programs. Their mission is to deliver secure, high-performing systems that enable critical operations and long-term modernization across the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. This role supports ongoing efforts to strengthen and optimize enterprise storage and virtualization environments within a secure and mission-focused setting.

Location: Quantico, VA

Pay: $80 - $85 an hour

Clearance: Secret or higher

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Government Lead with daily engineering and system management activities.
  • Implement and administer networked storage infrastructure and interconnected systems.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance analysis, and storage system design.
  • Determine current levels of system and application resource utilization and performance.
  • Develop analytical models and workload projection methods to forecast system utilization.
  • Use capacity management tools to perform workload sizing for new and existing applications.
  • Plan and evaluate storage requirements based on operational and performance needs.
  • Support hardware and software upgrades, analyzing performance and utilization impacts.
  • Conduct capacity management audits and oversee storage of capacity and performance data.
  • Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) design, sizing, and implementation.
  • Design, develop, and integrate Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions using NetApp and EMC technologies.
  • Manage configurations for SAN, NAS, and iSCSI systems, including switching fabric integration.
  • Perform data deduplication, mirroring, and retention management.
  • Execute installation, configuration, and integration of storage devices, systems, and components.
  • Develop, configure, and integrate Virtual Storage Console for VMware environments.
  • Perform tasks related to networking ports and protocols, Information Assurance (IA), and LAN routing.
  • Design and manage storage security controls and configurations.
  • Configure and integrate NetApp Data ONTAP 8.x environments.
  • Design storage solutions supporting Microsoft DFS, Exchange, and SQL environments.
  • Configure Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), quotas, and file sharing across storage systems.
  • Integrate and manage storage with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.

Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Storage Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong experience designing, configuring, and supporting SAN, NAS, and iSCSI environments.
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp and EMC storage technologies.
  • Proven background in capacity planning, performance management, and HA/DR solutions.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and DFS in enterprise environments.
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or API development.
  • Understanding of networking (ports, protocols, routing) and Information Assurance (IA) principles.

Certifications:
  • Must have CASP+ or Security X Certification.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Operating System (OS) or Storage Certification required (e.g., NetApp Certified Data Administrator, EMC Proven Professional, or equivalent).
