VDI Administrator

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a VDI Admin to join a mission-critical DOD team through fully onsite presence in Alexandria, VA . The VDI Admin will engineer, secure, and maintain high-performance virtual desktop environments across classified networks up to IL6.

Responsibilities of the VDI Admin include:

• Engineer and maintain VMware Horizon VDI environments: Build, configure, and manage virtual desktops using tools like Instant Clones, App Volumes, and vSphere/ESXi
• Ensure cybersecurity compliance and system hardening: Apply DISA STIGs, support RMF/ATO processes, and use tools like eMASS, SCAP, ACAS, and HBSS to maintain secure, audit-ready systems
• Manage gold images and application layers: Create and maintain standardized desktop images and deliver applications efficiently using App Volumes and automation tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve VDI-related issues: Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and network teams to resolve access issues, remediate findings, and ensure system availability
• Support classified environments (up to IL6): Operate within secure DoD networks, ensuring compliance and availability across multiple classification levels
• Perform system updates and off-hours maintenance: Apply patches, perform upgrades, and support operational continuity, occasionally during non-business hours or with limited travel (~10%)

Qualifications of the VDI Admin include:

• 5+ years in systems engineering, virtualization, or VDI administration
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Hands-on experience with VMware Horizon, vSphere/ESXi, Windows Server, and Active Directory
• Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, eMASS, ACAS, HBSS, and SIEM tools
• Proficiency in PowerShell or PowerCLI for automation and system management
• Experience supporting classified networks up to IL6, with flexibility for off-hours maintenance and occasional travel (~10%)

Compensation for the VDI Admin includes:

• Salary Range: $145,000-155,000 **depending on experience**
