We’re seeking an experienced Audit Readiness / Financial Management Analyst to support government accounting and audit readiness efforts at Patrick Space Force Base. This role will provide hands-on support in documenting business processes, conducting financial control testing, and responding to official audit requests for a high-visibility mission tied to Space Force and Air Force operations.
The position is a backfill for an existing SME who is being recalled to active duty for approximately one year. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical audit and accounting expertise and strong client-facing communication skills, able to work directly with leadership and financial teams to improve audit posture and readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Support ongoing audit readiness and internal control testing across financial business areas (e.g., pay, vendor, reimbursements, contracts, and budget execution).
Document and refine business processes related to funding, accounting, and recordkeeping.
Assist with audit response efforts, gathering supporting documentation and preparing responses to higher headquarters and audit inquiries.
Advise and guide government personnel through corrective actions and audit preparation steps.
Collaborate closely with the audit readiness team, including coordination with other bases (Patrick, Vandenberg, and SSC/LA).
Engage directly with client stakeholders, answer questions, and proactively support on-site teams.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance (required)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, financial management, or budget analysis
Hands-on experience with government or DoD financial processes
Working knowledge of financial systems such as DEAMS, DTS, CCaR, or similar
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with government stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting audit readiness or FIAR (Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness) initiatives
Background in government financial statement audits (not just contract or compliance audits)
Prior experience working within Air Force or Space Force financial management environments
Local to Patrick Space Force Base or previous experience supporting operations there
Additional Details
This is a client-facing, on-site role at Patrick SFB (five days a week preferred).
The client is seeking a proactive professional who can integrate quickly, build trust with stakeholders, and maintain momentum during a critical audit cycle.
