Overview: This opportunity supports the sustainment and ongoing development of the Mapping Enterprise Business System (MEBS)-the enterprise platform used by Mapping Customer Operations to manage map accounts and inventory. MEBS enhances the customer and internal management experience by modernizing interfaces, streamlining operations, and improving visibility into mapping assets.
It also includes operating, maintaining, and providing full sustainment support services for MEBS throughout all periods of performance.
Position Summary: The Software Systems Engineer - Lead will provide high-level technical expertise in the design, development, and sustainment of complex enterprise software systems. This role involves architecting solutions that integrate software, hardware, and communications to meet functional and technical requirements across the system's lifecycle. The Lead Engineer will also oversee system compliance with open standards and DoD architectural frameworks, guide other technical staff, and ensure overall quality and performance of the MEBS system.

Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and define specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modify/maintain existing systems using vendor engineering releases and utilities.
- Provide advanced technical expertise in software systems programming, analysis, and architecture design.
- Design and document enterprise-level system architectures that address both current and future cross-functional requirements.
- Ensure compatibility and compliance with open systems standards and DoD architecture guidelines.
- Identify, assess, and recommend solutions for functional and technical requirements, including system upgrades or enhancements.
- Collaborate with project management to define technical direction and project schedules.
- Develop system design diagrams and manage program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Lead, instruct, and perform quality assurance reviews for other technical team members.
- Conduct evaluations of new and existing software products and tools.
- Support all phases of the software systems lifecycle, from requirements through deployment and sustainment.
- Oversee operating system maintenance activities, including complex file maintenance, network optimization, and system accounting.
Required Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering and software development.
- Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, AWS, or similar).
- Active DoD Secret Clearance at the time of proposal submission.
Physical and Mental Qualifications:
- Maintain focus and awareness throughout scheduled working hours.
- Perform tasks requiring prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk, utilizing a computer, mouse, and keyboard.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds as needed.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Quickly learn and retain routine tasks and processes.
- Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, business correspondence proficiency, and self-management capabilities.
