Role: Undersea Hardware Systems Engineer

Client: Defense-Aerospace

Hourly Rate: $54 to $68/hr W2, non-benefited

Length: 1-year

Location: Mcleansville, NC

Clearance: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of start.

Description:
  • Develop innovative concepts for undersea mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Conduct trade studies and assess technical approaches to determine optimal solutions.
  • Translate trade study outcomes into functional prototypes and engineered systems.
  • Design, test, and evaluate hardware such as subsea cables, cable-handling systems, and other sea floor or platform-based equipment.
  • Define and implement test strategies, including detailed planning and execution.
  • Identify and plan for future technical needs, including fixtures, facilities, and tooling required for development and deployment.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integration and performance in challenging undersea environments.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with undersea mechanical systems: cables, cable handling equipment, or other subsea technologies.
  • Strong background in systems engineering processes, including requirements development and trade study analysis.
  • Hands-on prototyping and test experience in a hardware development environment.
  • Ability to develop creative, practical solutions in complex engineering scenarios.
  • Comfortable working in various team sizes from a 5 person Study to a 100 person Program
  • Familiarity with environmental challenges of subsea operations and equipment design.
  • Experience with subsea infrastructure installation, maintenance, or platform integration is desired
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards for undersea equipment is desired
  • Project planning and cross-functional collaboration skills is desired

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
