Staff Assistant
This position requires an active Secret clearance to be considered. Must be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI after hire.

The Staff Assistant provides administrative planning, implementation services, and program support to AUKUS Senior Advisor and staff. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information and high-level engagements.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Staff Assistant: $101,401.00
Pay commensurate with experience.

Staff Assistant Responsibilities Include:
- Advising leadership on tools and methods to improve the efficiency of executive administrative support operations.
- Evaluating organizational methods and procedures to enhance administrative support systems.
- Designing and implementing a knowledge management system to track assignments, share information, and maintain core documentation in collaboration with other team members.
- Accompanying Senior Advisor level personnel to international and domestic meetings and conferences, developing meeting materials and information on issues which arise.
- Making travel arrangements for Senior Advisor and staff to include hotel reservations, submitting passport and visa applications and preparing vouchers upon completion of travel.
- Ensuring all official communications to the Senior Advisor team are properly and promptly handled, in accordance with records requirements and State Department standards.
- Maintaining schedule for Senior Advisor level and other personnel as required, rescheduling appointments if necessary and preparing briefing memoranda for meetings.
- Taking and transcribing notes during international, interagency, or public meetings as required.
- Drafting, clearing, and submitting congressional reports and other products in accordance with State Department guidance.
- Assisting in preparation of large volumes of correspondence, memoranda, briefing papers, and reports, frequently working with senior level contacts at the White House National Security Council, Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, Energy, Justice, and across the Department of State.
- Serving as liaison for administrative HR matters, e.g., performance appraisal reminders, leave restoration procedures and award nomination procedures.
- Acting as liaison for GSO work orders and IT maintenance and computer issues.
- Assisting new staff members, processing new hire paperwork and coordinating equipment and security access.
- Ensuring classified materials are managed appropriately, including procedures for handling and storing SCI documents.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Staff Assistant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma or GED with five (5) years experience in international politics/foreign policy, military/defense or security cooperation.
- Prior experience working with the Department of State or another federal department or agency preferred.
- Prior experience in foreign affairs, administration, travel planning, complex logistics, political-military affairs, foreign affairs, and defense security cooperation, or academic research support preferred.
- Experience in drafting policy-related or administrative products based on diverse sources, including government documents, academic research, and/or academic and think tank products preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office applications for product creation (Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or PowerPoint) and for knowledge management (Teams and/or SharePoint) preferred.
- Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details.
- Experience with travel management, preferably experience with E2 solutions, preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with proven experience implementing administrative concepts and principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact in a professional manner with senior officials and stakeholders.
- English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
