Summary
This position will provide advanced technical support for the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-level unclassified and classified network infrastructure at HQ PACAF. This position focuses on hands-on engineering support, Tier 3 diagnostics, and optimizing the performance of a mission-critical communications environment in accordance with DoD and PACAF.
Basic Required Qualifications and Skills:
CCNP and IAT Level II Required
· Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, information systems, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
· Minimum of 8+ years of senior-level network engineering experience designing and implementing secure, scalable DoD networks.
· At start date, must possess one or more of the following certifications in ACTIVE status:
o CCNP (Routing and Switching) or CCDP (Design)
o SecurityX - Formerly CASP+CE
o GSLC – GIAC Security Leadership certification
· Proven track record of designing and implementing secure, scalable DoD enterprise networks (classified and unclassified).
· Advanced technical expertise in VMware, VOIP phones, Microsoft Teams, and Windows Server systems.
· Expertise with network architecture, firewall policy, routing protocols, QoS, Cloud-enablement strategies, and cross-domain solutions.
· Experience performing Tier 3 O&M support, configuration, and engineering for large-scale military networks.
· Deep knowledge of DoD architecture frameworks, RMF, and PACAF-specific mission demands.
· Ability to provide:
o System Design Plan (SDP) to include details for all required actions to complete the project drawings of existing floor plans, proposed floor plans, rack elevations, and shelf configurations.
o Details of all cable runs (e.g., fiber, copper, power, grounding) in Spreadsheet form.
o Site preparation actions (e.g., facilities, power, grounding, and bounding).
o Systems Integration Test (SIT) and Systems Acceptance Test (SAT) plans, including the test results, and Implementation schedule.
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), outstanding customer service, team building, and consensus-building abilities.
· Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused, organized, and plan work independently or collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment.
· Analytical mindset with attention to detail, accuracy, and consistent follow-through.
· Proven ability to:
o Exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling situational occurrences.
o Provide technical support across secure and non-secure networks.
o Work with senior leaders in a Joint Operations Center, demonstrating polished technical skills and a professional mindset.
· Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
· All applicants must have current DoD Top Secret clearance day one, and prior to entry on duty, with the ability to up-scope their clearance to Top Secret / SCI.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
· Possess a Computing Environment Commercial Certification in ACTIVE status:
CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or Security
Cloud Architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, DoD Cloud certs)
Cisco CCDP or equivalent vendor-neutral certification
· Possess an Information Assurance Technology (IAT) Level III certification in ACTIVE status.
· Current DoD TS clearance with SCI eligibility day one and prior to entry on duty.
· 10+ years of Network Engineering experience, demonstrating expertise in managing and troubleshooting complex network systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide Tier 3 network engineering support and troubleshooting for O&M operations across PACAF networks (NIPR/SIPR/Coalition).
· Support SDP development in coordination with the lead Network Architect and A6 stakeholders.
· Support implementation and sustainment of routing and switching, network segmentation, firewalls, and QoS configurations.
· Conduct change management planning, including development of technical implementation procedures and risk assessments.
· Execute network upgrades and integration of hardware/software solutions in support of modernization efforts.
· Perform diagnostics for complex hardware, firmware, and configuration issues impacting network services.
· Ensure RMF-aligned security integration across all changes.
· Coordinate with PACAF/A6 and other stakeholders for technical implementation and validation.
· Survey and assess the condition of the site(s)’ facilities for potential upgrades that may impact equipment installation related to the network and/or growth projects.
· Other duties as assigned.
