Job Title: Network Architect
Location: Arlington, VA
Eligibility: Candidate must possess an active Secret clearance
Job Description:
The successful candidate will support the DARPA program manager by
participating in or leading all activities in project management,
technical and programmatic risk analysis, and program-funded test
coordination. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating
meetings, assessing performer technical progress, projecting performer
outcomes, and ensuring that project management best practices are
followed by performers, independent verification and validation (IV&V)
entities funded by DARPA, and within DARPA itself.
The ideal candidate should have knowledge and expertise in topics
related to computer networking, machine learning, and network security
to support a new program and help support other related efforts
including new program development. They should have experience in
Network architecture to include network security emulations and
simulations.
Responsibilities:
Perform computer network and network security emulations and simulations
Take part in periodic performer assessments to analyze program,
technical and schedule risks; develop risk mitigation strategies;
communicate findings to program manager
Technical evaluations and guidance on reports, briefings, and other
performer communications
Presentation and report preparation
Support further research solicitations and proposal evaluations
Program administration, including development of technical analyses,
identification of technology gaps, technical risk management, project
cost estimation, technology transfer efforts, as well as supporting
technical reviews.
Attend and organize program reviews/site visits/field tests.
Serve as a subject-matter expert on matters related to network
architecture and security.
Requirements:
5-7 years of experience, and recent experience, working in the computer
networks and network security domains.
Sufficient programming experience and technical ability to perform
computer networks and network security emulations and simulations.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, Linux, and network
emulation/simulation tools.
Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning
models and prompt engineering.
A Master’s degree or PhD candidacy in a field relevant to the above
areas
Ability to do independent technical research and support rapid iteration
of new research program pitches.
Present at DARPA headquarters most of the time (some telework may be
granted)
Active Secret clearance.
