THIS IS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR 1099 POSITIONS

The Dermatopathologist Pathologist shall provide subspecialty diagnostic pathology services and translational clinical investigation. Performs diagnostic services, teaching, and clinical investigation related to ear, nose, throat, and endocrine pathology consultation submitted to the JPC from the DOD, Veterans Administration, and other Federal agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose consultations accurately and within the timeframe set forth by guidelines within the JPC.
  • Work with patients' tissue specimens and pathology reports
  • Prepare patients' specimens for examination, perform specialized or non-routine tests on tissue samples, or confirm patients' test results, correlate patient reports and test information.
  • Provide accurate information about pathogenesis, histogenesis, biology, and differential diagnosis
  • Deliver expert lectures to medical students, residents, fellows, and practitioners about pathology.
  • Lecture authoritatively to peers within and outside the JPC and speak at scientific meetings of national and international scope.
  • Initiate and pursue clinical investigative ideas and projects to a meaningful conclusion and publish the final results.
  • Provide timely diagnostic reports within organization's established turnaround time metric for Dermatopathology
  • Work with patients' tissue specimens and pathology reports; prepare patients' specimens for examination, perform specialized or non-routine tests on tissue samples, or confirm patients' test results, correlate patient reports and test information.
  • Study consultations by evaluation of gross features of the disease, case history correlation, microscopic examination of tissue sections mounted on stained and unstained slides, and literature review.
  • Determine the need for and request of additional procedures including histochemistry, immunoperoxidase studies, molecular studies, electron microscopy, and consultative opinions.
  • Collaborate with other JPC staff members as pertinent on difficult consultations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy
  • Board certification in Pathology or Board certification in subspecialty area
  • Subspecialty fellowship training OR
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in sub-specialty pathology.
  • Current valid state license to practice medicine in the U.S


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to obtain secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of Dermatopathology specialty to provide authoritative consultation and diagnostic service.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods to provide professional training, lectures, and workshops.
  • Knowledge of clinical investigation techniques to expand and report through professional publications advances in Dermatopathology specialty
  • Knowledge in pathology and sub-specialty area(s) of pathology to include dermatopathology.
  • Ability to diagnose consultations accurately and within the timeframe set forth by guidelines within the JPC.
  • Ability to provide accurate information about the pathogenesis, histogenesis, biology, and differential diagnosis.
  • Ability to deliver expert lectures to medical students, residents, fellows, and practitioners about pathology.
  • Ability to lecture authoritatively to peers within and outside the JPC and speak at scientific meetings of national and international scope.
  • Ability to initiate and pursue clinical investigative ideas and projects to a meaningful conclusion and publish the final results.

Estimated Salary/Wage
