Location: Redstone Gateway 4122 Rideout Rd, Huntsville, AL 35808 (Hybrid – 2 days a week in office W/TH)

Relocation: Will consider candidates willing to relocate

Compensation: 140 – 150K

Job Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced System Engineer (Level 4) to support the Defense Missile and Space Command – Force (MASC-F) Modeling and Simulations Contract for Framework and Tools program. MASC-F develops two primary products: the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF), which serves as the primary simulation environment for MDA and is the Authoritative Source of Truth for any Ground Test campaign for all connected elements and RepBox which provides drop-in models for weapon and sensor systems that support the MDS. This role will focus on defining/refining requirements and processes to guide the development of software that operates within standalone and distributed computing environments. The ideal candidate will be experienced in system design and system architecture with demonstrated experience breaking down requirements for Agile development teams in defense or mission-critical domains.

Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance

Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, System Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience/combined education)
• Minimum 9 years of professional software engineering experience
• Solid understanding of software design principles and implementation
• Experience with requirements verification practices and processes
• AZ-900 (Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)

Required Skills:
• Support the System Engineering Integration and Test functional organization in understanding software requirements and decomposing those requirements into development features.
• Improving and executing the Formal Qualification Testing approach and process used to certify deployed software
• Ensure adherence to system engineering standards, best practices, and configuration management processes
• Work with customers to understand needs and refine software requirements to fit those needs.
• Assist with the migration to a microservices-oriented architecture and adjusting requirements to account for that new paradigm
• Collaborate in a fast-paced Agile environment, utilizing tools like Jira and Confluence (Digital Agility) for sprint tracking, backlog grooming, and team collaboration
• Participate in mixed classification and distributed computing environments for code development, deployment, and testing
• Assist teams with breaking down Feature development stories to actionable tasks that can be independently developed and collectively integrated
• Interface with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software testers, product owners, and program leadership

Desired Skills:
• Experience supporting DoD or aerospace/defense programs
• Experience with Test-Driven development practices
• Understanding of distributed systems, local compute cluster platforms / cloud architectures, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Podman)
• Knowledge of OSF-G architecture or similar real-time frameworks
• Experience with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD processes
