Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer for I&T. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in Gilbert, AZ.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems.
In this position, you will perform duties contributing to Integration and Test (I&T) activities for space vehicle systems and their supporting hardware. I&T Mechanical Engineers coordinate and oversee mechanical build and production operations performed by the technical staff. You could support and/or be responsible for developing work instructions, test procedures, processes, support hardware designs, etc. that adhere to the requirements for the space vehicle being tested. Tasks may include testing space flight hardware where it is expected that the systems under test are well understood and the test constraints and hazards identified to ensure the safety of the space flight hardware at all times. Test results will be analyzed and determinations made by the operator to ensure that the space flight hardware is both healthy and operating as expected. You must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, or mission operations. You will be working in a team environment where the team will be responsible for all I&T activities for the space vehicle being tested.

Primary Level Salary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 Years experience; 7 years with Masters in Engineering; 4 years with PhD in Engineering.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: integration, test, mechanical operations, or manufacturing .
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, software, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Experience developing manufacturing work instructions utilizing Solumina G8 MES or similar manufacturing execution software
- Experience working Non-Conformance resolution and disposition in TipQA or similar Quality Management Software (QMS)
- Experience working with PTC Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Experience working on Special Access Programs
- Experience working Space Vehicle Integration and Test
- Ability to provide technical leadership, oversight and direction to mechanical teams.
- Practical experience with 5S/FOD, ESD and Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing techniques
- Current experience in CAD modeling utilizing CREO Parametric
- Advocate and lead efforts in Digital Transformation initiatives and process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to make difficult technical decisions with data driven judgment.
- Experienced and trained in Cost Account Management (CAM)
- Experience with Quality principles including RCCA
- Advanced engineering degree studies
