Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Acquisition Specialist to support the United States Space Force (USSF). This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on mission success and space operations.
In this role, you will support government acquisition efforts by conducting market research, developing acquisition strategies, and assisting with Request for Proposal (RFP) development. You will play a key role in technical evaluations, ensuring proposals meet mission and program requirements.
Your expertise will help guide complex procurements and support long-term strategic goals. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in defense acquisition and procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Acquisition Specialist will:
* Support government acquisition efforts across the full lifecycle, from strategy development to contract execution
* Conduct market research, define evaluation criteria, and develop acquisition strategies to meet mission objectives
* Assist with drafting and refining contract requirements, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and source selection documentation
* Provide expertise in cost, schedule, and performance integration to ensure effective acquisition outcomes
* Apply risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate program and acquisition risks
* Support product development and science & technology programs, including direct collaboration with program offices
* Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership
* Collaborate with U.S. Space Force stakeholders to align acquisition activities with mission objectives and strategic priorities
Required Skills & Experience
The Senior Acquisition Specialist must have:
* Active Top Secret/SCI
* 10+ years of DoD experience in contracts and subcontracts with full life cycle acquisition involvement
* Deep expertise in Air Force and Space Force acquisition processes, PPBE, and risk management
* Proven background supporting product development and S&T programs
* Recognized for strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and delivering results in complex acquisition environments
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; trusted leader with experience engaging senior and executive-level defense stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively partnering with teams, program offices, and senior leadership
* Thorough knowledge of U.S. Space Force structure, mission, and stakeholder priorities
Education and Certifications
The Senior Acquisition Specialist must meet the following:
Required
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
* Master's degree in a related field
Preferred
* Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Program Management or related functional area
* Project Management Professional certification COMPTIA Net+, Sec+ Certified
