Habitability Electrician

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Habitability Electrician who will be a key support to the ongoing project in San Diego California.


Job Description:
  • Provide technical support on Shipboard Electrical Systems as a subject matter expert.
  • Assess, troubleshoot, and assist ships' force in the performance of minor repairs, adjustments, and testing on shipboard habitability systems and equipment.
    • Shipboard habitability systems and equipment include
    • Galley and food service equipment
    • Food service refrigeration equipment
    • Food preparation equipment
    • Food service dishwashers and garbage grinders
    • Aqueous potassium carbonate (APC) fire-fighting system
    • Gaylord system
    • Laundry equipment
    • Fan coil units/assemblies
  • Uses technical documents (JFMM, Instructions, NSTM's, Military standards, Test memos, Test Standards, Drawings and Technical Manuals) to complete work.
  • Performs functional checks, tests and analysis, fault detection, and formulates required corrective actions.
  • Complete assessments and maintenance actions that may include but are not limited to: repairing or replacing wiring and fixing equipment and fixtures by using hand tools or power tools.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Conduct research and provides drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering technical recommendations.
  • Assist with ships force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
  • Performs the necessary out briefs to ship's force representatives including ship's officers and supporting personnel as well as briefs to customer management.
  • Conducts pre and post repair tests or experiments.
  • Analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance, then reports results.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedure appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.


Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent trade certification
  • Must have at least 4 years' of experience repairing, upgrading and performing condition assessments, performing diagnostic inspections and fault isolation on a variety of Navy shipboard electrical systems; including but not limited to ship power distribution systems, equipment control systems, electrical operators, indicating and order systems, lighting distribution systems, motors, controllers and generator
  • Must have the ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions, or drawings and to conduct activities in a safe manner
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer Naval EM or EMN experience

Security Requirements:
  • Must have the eligibility to obtain and maintain DBIDS.


Travel Requirements:
  • 10% Travel Required.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
