Position: Senior Information Systems Specialist – Space Force Programs

Compensation: $54.16/hour

Overview
Our client, a leading defense and aerospace contractor supporting the U.S. Space Force, is seeking a Senior Information Systems Specialist to join their mission-critical team in Scottsdale, AZ. In this role, you’ll deliver secure IT solutions in support of national defense operations—designing, testing, and maintaining enterprise applications and network systems that directly impact U.S. space and intelligence missions.
This position requires an active DoD Secret security clearance at the time of hire.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Information Systems Specialist, you will:
• Perform IT engineering functions including design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging, and implementation of applications supporting defense programs.
• Analyze, install, configure, and support secure operating systems, databases, and utilities software.
• Administer Red Hat Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows OS environments via command-line interface.
• Conduct system administration of Trusted Network Environment (TNE) Pitbull command-level systems.
• Troubleshoot operating system, hardware, and application issues in classified environments.
• Manage secure networks, providing daily communications and cybersecurity operations for multi-level access environments across CONUS and OCONUS sites.
• Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers/switches, VoIP systems, video teleconferencing platforms, and network/telecommunications hardware.
• Install, maintain, and repair copper and fiber optic cabling to support secure communications networks.
• Deploy and maintain Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) systems, ensuring virtual machines and cloud applications remain compliant, secure, and mission-ready.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience (or a Master’s degree).
• Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility preferred).
• Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux system administration.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols, TCP/IP, cybersecurity requirements, and secure network operations.

Desired Skills & Experience
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and virtualization/VM management.
• Familiarity with containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Hands-on troubleshooting of Cisco networking equipment and secure WAN/LAN protocols (EIGRP, QoS, spanning-tree, VoIP).
• Experience with DISA STIGs, IC security requirements, and coalition security documentation.
• Knowledge of secure communications systems (VTC platforms such as Tandberg/Polycom; KG-175 encryption devices).
• Exposure to DMVPM, Fabric-enabled technologies, and advanced data center protocols.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary defense teams, troubleshooting complex IT and network challenges.
