Job Title: Database Administrator

We are actively seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Database Administrator (DBA) for a DoD Intelligence program in the National Capital Region.
Job Summary:
The DBA will be responsible to assess and recommend advanced solutions in existing systems to enhance database performance and accessibility to meet mission requirements. The DBA will administer, test and implement database management systems. Additionally, the DBA will plan, coordinate and implement security measures using Risk Management Framework (RMF) to safeguard databases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure and maintain complex network of Cloud and on premise Database systems.
• Assist with integrating services across Cloud and data center.
• Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of databases.
• Support the production and non-production Oracle databases by correcting issues, supporting routine and ad-hoc data change requests, creating documentation, implementing and monitoring daily and nightly database maintenance jobs, and monitoring, diagnosing, resolving, and responding to system failure and performance issues
• Take appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminating recurrence of the problem.
• Formulate and implement backup procedures for all customer databases.
• Document new or modified infrastructure solutions, test activities/results, and workflows.
• Optimize database performance and efficiency by evaluating and recommending new database technologies.
• Perform database design and modeling; as well as, the collection and interpretation of customer requirements relevant to database migration, troubleshooting, performance observation and tuning.
• Strong understanding of hardware, software, networking, and cloud technologies.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and evaluate database performance.
• Effective communication to understand requirements and collaborate with diverse teams.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, information technology/systems or equivalent years of experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Database administration.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres or similar database platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification or equivalent
• Advanced SQL experience in optimizing queries, stored procedures and complex joins
• Experience with other database platforms like Redshift, Dynamo DB or Mongo DB
