Senior Data Scientist
We are seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Data Scientist to support a Air Force program operating within a secure Data Center environment. This role involves developing AI models, building a scalable data lake engine using platforms like Cloudera and tools like Tableau, while contributing to cybersecurity initiatives through automation and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, technically versatile, and capable of delivering secure, high-impact solutions in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design, train, and deploy AI/ML models to support program objectives
• Build and maintain a secure, scalable data lake architecture using Cloudera
• Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau
• Identify and implement use cases for cybersecurity analytics, including anomaly detection, threat modeling, and behavioral analysis
• Create and maintain automation scripts for data ingestion, transformation, and system monitoring
• Ensure compliance with DoD STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and other federal cybersecurity standards
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate data science outputs into security operations workflows
• Document workflows, pipelines, and model performance for transparency and reproducibility
• Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders and leadership
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements
Education Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
Certification Required:
• Active Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
Experience Required:
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML model development and deployment
• Hands-on experience with Cloudera, Tableau, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience identifying and implementing cybersecurity use cases within data environments
• Experience supporting government or defense-related programs (Preferred)
• Experience with Jupyter, Apache NiFi, or Airflow for workflow automation (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge:
• Familiarity with STIGs, NIST frameworks, and federal cybersecurity compliance requirements
• Strong understanding of data lake architecture, ETL pipelines, and big data frameworks
• Knowledge of SIEM platforms and security data integration (Preferred).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker), cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines (Preferred).
Skills:
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently under program direction
• Big data framework: Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Hive or similar technologies
• Data Governance & Security
Abilities:
• Cloud Platform: Experience with AWS, Azure, OCI or Google Cloud.
• Statistical analysis and machine learning: Able to build models that leverage data lake for predictive insights
• Optimization & performance tuning. Understand how to improve query performance and storage efficiency
