Electro-Mechanical Actuation Modeling and Controls Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Develop and own system architecture and requirements for electromechanical actuators.
• Own physics based models for electromechanical actuators including: eMachines, speed + position sensing, and gearboxes.
• Incorporate motor control firmware into system models.
• Work collectively with vehicle level modeling and simulation teams to deliver validated models.
• Own system-level test and validation, electrical and software system integration on vehicles, and definition and review of flight telemetry to guide future design iterations.
• Drive development in new technologies including sensing, eMachines, and electromechanical gear systems.
• Correlate flight usage data to actuation system model and present correlations to cross functional teams.
• Develop robust, efficient control loops using analytical and empirical methods.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities, including process improvement, efficiency improvement and development of data analysis techniques.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Matlab/Simulink expert user.
• Experience or education in dynamics, control theory, and mechatronics
• Experience in design, analysis, and modeling of eMachines + geared actuation systems with rotary and linear gear reduction mechanisms.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep mechanical modeling experience and proven track record of success for rotary and linear actuators and sensors.
• Experience with torque and force sensing instrumentation and data reduction.
• Working knowledge of electromagnetic and thermal effects.

US Salary Range

$120,000 - $210,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
