Job Description Summary
The Diplomatic Security Armored Vehicle (AV) Program maintains the Department of State's armored vehicle fleet with a focus on replacing transparent armor and performing scheduled/unscheduled security-related maintenance. AV Technicians travel to diplomatic posts to install transparent armor, inspect vehicles for safety and serviceability, perform fleet inventories and provide training related to vehicle maintenance and armoring system components.
Supervises repair and replacement of unserviceable transparent armor in armored vehicles at diplomatic posts, consulates, and field offices worldwide. Supervises fleet inventories and serviceability inspections of armored vehicles at diplomatic posts, consulates, and field offices worldwide. Provides workload status updates and fleet issues to AV Program. Provides onsite training to post personnel on all runflat systems used in DS armored vehicles. Provides operation/maintenance instruction to post personnel. Coordinates workload, training, travel dates and additional requirements with RSO/GSO during the travel pre-planning process. Coordinates execution of travel requirements with assigned Project Coordinator. Acts as a liaison between end users and AV Program during Post visits. Applies technical knowledge of armoring principles to return armored vehicles to operational condition and solve complex problems. Leads AV Fleet Maintenance Trip briefings with RSO/GSO Supports contingency fleet and in-transit fleet maintenance and inspections at AV Program facilities while not deployed. Provides expert input to AV Program on end-user inquiries and Program initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience or the equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience/military training. Mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift more than 75lbs Must be able to obtain a U.S. passport and maintain a SECRET clearance. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and mobile applications.
