Systems Administrator
Country Intelligence Group is seeking a Full-Time Systems Administrator to support our client in
the deployment, administration, and sustainment of complex IT systems in Fort Meade, MD. The
selected candidate will manage large-scale software deployments on Linux/Unix platforms and provide support for critical system issues. The role includes maintaining highly available environments using container technologies, orchestrating systems with Kubernetes, and managing clustered storage solutions. The candidate will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining configuration management and change control processes to ensure system stability and compliance with operational standards.
Tasks Performed:
• Manage and administer large-scale software deployments on Linux and Unix
systems, ensuring smooth rollouts and minimal downtime by leveraging extensive
experience in system configuration management and change control processes.
• Oversee complex deployment processes with a focus on implementing,
troubleshooting, and maintaining robust IT systems to guarantee operational
stability and high availability across environments.
• Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams during all deployment phases,
providing Tier 3 support by identifying, diagnosing, and resolving critical production
issues in a timely manner to minimize business impact.
• Monitor and troubleshoot deployment issues proactively, utilizing expertise in
container technologies such as Kubernetes and clustered storage solutions to
optimize performance and reliability of containerized applications.
• Maintain detailed deployment documentation and procedures, continuously
updating them to reflect best practices in system administration, change
management, and orchestration of containerized services.
• Optimize deployment strategies for scalability and resilience by integrating
advanced configuration management tools, container orchestration frameworks, and automated change control workflows to support growing infrastructure
demands.
Education, Experience
and Qualifications:
• Minimum high school diploma/GED with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in communication engineering, computer engineering, computer
science, electrical engineering or information systems with at least 10 years of
relevant experience.
• Experience administering large software deployments on Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience implementing, troubleshooting and maintaining IT systems.
• Experience providing Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution.
• Experience with Container Technology, administering clustered storage solutions,
Kubernetes orchestrated containers.
• Experience with system configuration management software and change control.
• Experience with:
o Linux / Unix command-line
o Docker
o Kubernetes
o Ceph
o Ansible, Puppet
