Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead enterprise level network support and modernization for the U.S. Air Force’s most mission critical infrastructure. In this role, you will oversee complex troubleshooting and break and fix efforts, maintain routers, switches, and firewalls, and provide engineering expertise for site surveys, installations, and network documentation. You will work with enterprise and data center network technologies including DMVPN, EIGRP, BGP, and automation tools to deliver resilient network performance.
Job Responsibilities
● Serve as a multi disciplined network engineer with extensive operations and maintenance experience supporting legacy and modern environments.
● Provide hands on touch labor for network devices including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls with support for additional vendor technologies.
● Oversee monitoring of network assets to ensure performance, uptime, and service level agreement compliance.
● Supervise and resolve break and fix and maintenance activities, ensuring issues are fully resolved and documented.
● Perform site surveys, configuration, installation planning, and engineering services for new and upgraded network deployments.
● Develop, maintain, and update network documentation including topology diagrams, data flow artifacts, and configuration standards.
● Analyze network protocols, routing standards, traffic patterns, and data flow to optimize performance and reliability.
● Design and implement routing policies using EIGRP, BGP, and DMVPN to support secure and scalable enterprise and data center networks.
● Apply expertise in emerging data center architectures and network automation technologies to modernize network environments.
● Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure all solutions comply with Department of Defense security standards, STIGs, and established policies.
● Provide technical leadership and guidance to operations and maintenance teams and stakeholders, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
● Communicate clearly and succinctly in both written and oral formats, presenting technical solutions in a business like manner.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
● Minimum of 7 years of recent engineering experience with direct operations and maintenance responsibilities.
● Demonstrated expertise with enterprise and data center networks including Cisco routing, switching, and firewall solutions.
● Strong experience with DMVPN, EIGRP, BGP, and automation technologies.
● Ability to perform site surveys, lead troubleshooting efforts, and provide engineering level recommendations.
● Strong understanding of Department of Defense networking environments, cybersecurity
compliance, and service level agreement driven operations.
Required Certifications
● Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
● CompTIA Security+
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
● Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
● Ability to carry, lift, pull, and/or push objects while walking up stairs, ladders, and other
elevated surfaces
● Ability to use tools and equipment such as hammer drills and core drills
● Exposed to seasonal weather based on geographic region
