Job Description
We are seeking a multi-disciplined network operations technician with hands-on experience in operations and maintenance of IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of recent networking experience and demonstrated ability to observe legacy network behavior, compare performance against baselines, and support network modernization initiatives. This role demands strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to execute incident response and triage, and a commitment to maintaining secure, reliable operations within a DoD environment.
Job Responsibilities
● Observe and analyze legacy network behavior, documenting and comparing performance against baseline standards.
● Create, respond to, and resolve incident tickets; perform network triage in accordance with SOPs and knowledge articles.
● Troubleshoot and resolve issues across IT infrastructure including user systems, servers, storage, and network connectivity.
● Provide system administration support for assigned infrastructure and maintain security as it relates to user accounts and access.
● Apply security patches, firmware, and operating system upgrades to ensure security and integrity of the technical environment.
● Support new infrastructure and network implementation projects.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date configuration documentation for assigned infrastructure.
● Perform system patching and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) patches to network routers and switches.
● Execute Cisco or equivalent hardware and software upgrades.
● Develop and update configuration templates for switch and router installations; apply templates for initial deployments.
● Troubleshoot system and network access failures; document root causes and corrective actions.
● Monitor network performance and outages, providing clear reports on trends and issues.
● Develop and refine network Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and SOPs; provide training as required.
● Support engineering design data calls and technical refresh projects at site level.
● Perform ticket resolution using administrative access to stage new switches and routers,
research incidents, and conduct root cause analysis.
● Route service requests to appropriate organizations when required for resolution.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
● Minimum of 5 years of recent networking experience with demonstrated O&M responsibilities.
● Experience with Cisco or equivalent networking equipment, configuration interfaces (CLI), and network management tools.
● Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, VLANs, ACLs, and Layer 2/3 troubleshooting.
● Experience applying security patches, IAVA updates, and supporting DoD cybersecurity requirements.
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established SOPs and technical documentation.
