Overview
We are seeking a Senior Voice over IP (VoIP) Engineer to join our team supporting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, MD .
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) GLobal INfrastructure and Development Acquisition (GLINDA) provides a wide variety of Information Technology (IT) support services to the NRC Headquarters located in Rockville, MD; with four Regional Offices.
We are looking for a senior VoIP Engineer with strong experience in architecting, configuring and supporting a variety of telephony and collaboration solutions. You will be required to support multiple VoIP solutions for different customer use cases, with a primary focus on administrating the Cisco Meeting Center to ensure proper functionality and availability of conference bridges and integration with Cisco Unified Call Manager.
You will define technical strategies and design solutions tailored to business needs and interact with stakeholders. This is a hands-on engineering position requiring knowledge of VoIP architectures and the ability to react quickly to emerging customer requirements. The successful candidate will serve as both a technical SME, an escalation resource for lower support tiers , and trusted advisor to our customers.

WAGE INFORMATION
Target salary range: $121,000 - $153,000. The salary range displayed is an estimate and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cisco Collaboration Technologies : Direct, hands-on experience with the deployment, configuration, and management of the Cisco M eeting Center (CMS) platform. An understanding of how to integrate the CMS with a CUCM environment, including configuring SIP trunks and routing calls. Experience with Cisco Expressway-C and Expressway-E for mobile and remote access (MRA) and B2B calling, which are crucial for external users to access the CMS. Ability to administrate virtualization platforms that CMS and other technologies are deployed on. Familiarity with third-party integrations for recording or streaming, such as Vbri ck Rev .
- Teams Telephony: Experience deploying and administrating Teams as agency-wide telephony solution, including support in telephone number migration, troubleshooting Teams calls and meetings, and setting up a variety of handsets or other end user devices for Teams integration.
- VoIP and Networking Experience: In-depth knowledge of SIP signaling fundamentals for call routing and protocols like WebRTC for browser-based client access. A strong foundation in cross-platform networking, including an understanding of DNS, QoS (Quality of Service) for voice and video traffic, and firewall configuration.
- Technology Leadership:
Act as a subject matter expert and stay current with the latest VoIP and Collaboration technology updates and best practices. Provide architecture and development guidance on VoIP projects across our customer base. - Innovation and Strategy : Stay ahead of tech trends in the IP Telephony, Unified Communications and Collaborations space, proposing continuous improvements as landscape evolves.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in a relevant subject, such as computer science or equivalent
- 12-15+ years of relevant experience in new and related older technology that directly relates to the required area of expertise.
- Ability to obtain a public trust
- Successful passing of drug screening
