Location: Wright Patterson AFB, OH

Division: Potowatomi Defense Operations, LLC

Clearance: This position requires an Active Secret Clearance

Position Summary

Potawatomi Defense Operations, LLC (a federal government contractor) seeks qualified full-time CNC Operators/Machinists with a Secret clearance to support the Rapid Development Integration Facility (RDIF) support contract, onsite at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate and construct mechanisms, models and instruments that fulfill engineering requirements for prototype equipment involving mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, optical and pneumatic principles.
  • Determine necessity for special tools, dies and fixtures required to accomplish intricate machining and assembly operations and set-up and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (Machining Center, Lathe and Milling Machine).
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Machine (CAM) programming is required.
  • Set-up and operate the full range of machine tools found in a well-equipped prototype development shop.
  • Work from engineering design drawings and technical specifications.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy called out in drawings during machining processes, using measuring instruments (e.g. vernier calipers, inside/outside and depth micrometers, gage blocks, surface and height gages, and dial indicators).
  • Familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blueprints.
  • Install prototype equipment on aircraft and make modifications to the existing systems and sub systems.
  • Coordinate with project engineer and/or management personnel throughout the project, and provide technical assistance to project engineers, contractors and factory representatives.
  • Perform system and component repairs to a variety of aircraft, possess an in-depth knowledge of technical materials and repair techniques.
  • Knowledgeable and able to use tools and equipment associated with a machinist shop.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • HS or equivalent formal apprenticeship program with experience in the essential duties and responsibilities shown above.
  • Skill Level II - 2 years of experience, Skill Level III - 4 years, and Skill Level IV - 6 or more years.


Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Experience with aviation is highly desirable.


Additional Qualifying Factors:
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required upon offer of employment).
  • Possess a valid driver's license (any state), ability to operate a motor vehicle, able to provide clean driving record and current vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Eligible for access onto military installations following background and security checks.
  • Flexibility with work schedule is mandatory because it impacts the ability to support and serve military.

  • Office/Manufacturing Facility setting.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
