Position Summary
Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Principal General/Interdisciplinary Engineer providing support to the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management Division (C3BM).
Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) has been tasked with delivering an integrated Department of the Air Force (DAF) Battle Network providing resilient decision advantage and enabling the USAF, USSF, Joint, and Coalition Force to win against the pacing challenge. C3BM supports execution in many different focus areas. C3BM's main efforts are Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE), Operational Response Team (ORT), and multiple mission integration teams such as Air, Maritime and multiple acquisitions consisting of both the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and Space.
The General/Interdisciplinary Engineering personnel will apply engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods. This includes extending or modifying existing approaches, resolving unique or novel problems, and significantly altering standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques. The role requires providing expert advice to professional colleagues and agency officials, recommending innovative solutions to advance programs and methods, and executing significant projects representing major agency operations.
The General/Interdisciplinary Engineer will exercise judgment and ingenuity in evaluating new technologies, strategies, and trends; investigating issues extending beyond a single specialty area; developing new standards, concepts, or theories; and ensuring the integrity, quality, and effectiveness of engineering and scientific programs. Support will also include system design, operation, and sustainment across the acquisition life cycle (requirements analysis through system disposal) and may include Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
This is a full-time position located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

Responsibilities
Duties include, but not limited to:
Design & Architectures
- Conduct and support engineering/technical activities during all acquisition phases: material solution analysis, technology development, engineering and manufacturing development, production/deployment, and operations/support.
- Develop and prepare engineering and technical documentation (e.g., Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Systems Engineering Plan (SEP)), including reviews, reports, briefings, and artifacts.
- Plan and execute technical reviews, assessments, and interchange meetings (e.g., Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA), Reliability TIM), including associated entry/exit criteria.
- Conduct systems architectural analyses, including design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessments.
- Produce and document system architectures, identify deficiencies, develop alternatives, recommend solutions, and support implementation plans using traditional or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Track and maintain baselined system architecture and interoperability requirements.
- Define operational requirements and system interactions, considering life cycle costs, logistics, and human factors.
- Translate DoD user requirements into system requirements for design, testing, and evaluation.
- Provide engineering analysis of system training, equipment, and simulators; prepare documentation; and evaluate simulator designs.
- Apply robust DoD acquisition and sustainment systems engineering processes across the life cycle.
- Prepare and review program specifications for items, processes, and materials.
- Utilize analytical, simulation, MBSE, and digital engineering techniques to optimize system performance, establish sensitivities, define parameters, evaluate hardware, and validate flight test results.
- Develop, review, and integrate milestone review documentation, periodic reports, and certifications in accordance with DoD/AF acquisition policy.
- Review, evaluate, and monitor contractor drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with requirements and ASME Technical Data Package standards.
- Support requirements definition/analysis, architecture design, implementation, integration, verification/validation, transition, decision analysis, requirements management, risk management, interface management, and configuration management.
- Facilitate information transfer, lessons learned, and best practices across customers and contractors within proprietary limits.
- Conduct market research and trade studies to assess current/future systems for mission requirements.
- Define and evaluate system cost, schedule, and technical performance; perform reviews, studies (including root cause analysis), audits, and provide recommendations.
- Conduct performance, cost, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and scheduling trade-off studies.
- Develop USAF-approved Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), test plans/procedures, readiness reviews, and supporting documentation.
- Execute developmental tests, support operational test planning/execution, and evaluate test results.
- Participate in integrated logistics support (ILS) efforts including provisioning, source coding, maintenance data collection, technical order management, configuration management, evaluation of deficiency reports, and sourcing for diminishing manufacturing/materiel sources (DMSMS).
