Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions QSS is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role will play a mission critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity systems, as well as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services.
You will develop and operate data driven solutions across natural language processing predictive modeling statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to automate mission workflows. The selected candidate will design systems that identify specific conditions in streaming and batch data and trigger appropriate responses while aligning technical delivery with customer objectives in a secure fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate mission objectives and customer workflows into measurable data science problems features and evaluation plans.
* Design and implement data preparation feature engineering and extract transform load processes for structured and unstructured data.
* Build train fine tune and evaluate models for classification regression forecasting anomaly detection topic modeling and entity extraction.
* Apply statistical inference hypothesis testing experiment design and A B testing to validate model and system performance.
* Develop reusable notebooks services and packages for training inference monitoring and reporting and integrate pretrained models where appropriate.
* Partner with software and platform engineers to productionize models including APIs batch and streaming inference and performance optimization.
* Implement practices for versioning reproducibility provenance governance and bias and fairness reviews.
* Leverage Amazon Web Services for scalable exploration training and serving including services such as SageMaker EC2 EKS Lambda S3 and Step Functions.
* Create clear visualizations dashboards documentation and briefings for technical and nontechnical stakeholders and support sustainment with runbooks.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated ability to understand and automate customer workflows and business processes with AI solutions.
* Strong knowledge of data structures data modeling and software architecture.
* In depth experience with machine learning tools and frameworks such as PyTorch TensorFlow and scikit learn and modern NLP libraries.
* Extensive mathematics and computer science foundations with deep understanding of probability statistics and algorithms.
* Proficiency in Python Java and C plus plus and familiarity with environment and package management such as Conda and pip.
* Hands on experience training models and integrating pretrained models into operational dataflows and software architectures.
* Experience with data querying and visualization using SQL pandas and visualization tools and with rigorous model evaluation and error analysis.
* Proficiency with Git based collaborative development and Agile delivery.
Education Requirement
* Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
* Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Skills
* Experience implementing secure AI solutions within Intelligence Community environments.
* Experience working with highly sensitive datasets including privacy preserving techniques and data governance practices.
* Experience leading AI and ML initiatives mentoring teammates and driving best practices.
* In depth knowledge of extract transform load pipelines data engineering patterns and distributed processing frameworks.
* Expertise building solutions in Amazon Web Services including SageMaker EKS or ECS IAM CloudWatch and Step Functions.
* Very strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and demonstrated performance in collaborative cross functional teams.
* Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes model registries such as MLflow and monitoring and observability practices.
Preferred Certifications
* AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty
* TensorFlow Developer Certificate
