Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems offer an excellent opportunity for a Principal Global Engineer Systems (25-468 & 25-469) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to reach global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

This is a Systems Engineer position, and the successful candidate will develop use cases and prepare systems engineering artifacts to implement customer-requested capabilities. They will support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, and system engineering estimates. They will author and conduct both formal and informal engineering reviews. Work is performed under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results can lead to significant program delays and increased resource expenditure. The role involves frequent contact with internal and external customers and represents the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues related to specific projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Reviewing the content and details of technical products and serving as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts as needed
  • Should have the ability to be part of an integrated Systems Engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements needed to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving MDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system
  • Should also demonstrate experience in mission analysis, including skills in developing use cases and sequence diagrams
  • Should be flexible enough to support various tasks on short notice
  • Work will be carried out under the guidance of various technical leads and product owners, requiring coordination with team members, C2BMC management, and government clients to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and within available resources
