Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions QSS is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join a
highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role will play a mission
critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity systems, as well
as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services.
You will build secure production grade software that powers AI and machine learning
capabilities including natural language processing predictive modeling statistical analysis
and hypothesis testing to automate mission workflows. The selected candidate will design
services that detect conditions in streaming and batch data and trigger appropriate
responses while aligning delivery with customer objectives in a secure fast paced
environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Design implement test and deploy backend services APIs and data processing applications that integrate AI and machine learning models into mission systems.
• Engineer reliable data pipelines and event driven architectures including extract transform load processes feature computation and streaming using modern frameworks.
• Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to operationalize models including packaging inference endpoints performance tuning and monitoring.
• Apply secure coding practices code reviews unit integration and end to end testing and compliance with sponsor standards.
• Build cloud native solutions in Amazon Web Services using services such as EC2 EKS Lambda S3 RDS DynamoDB API Gateway and Step Functions.
• Automate builds testing and deployments using continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines with Git based workflows.
• Instrument applications with logging metrics and tracing and implement health checks and runbooks for operations.
• Contribute to architectural decisions documentation diagrams and sustainment plans and participate in Agile ceremonies and backlog refinement.
• Troubleshoot production issues perform root cause analysis and implement resilient solutions that meet reliability and availability objectives.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated ability to understand and automate customer workflows and business processes with AI enabled software solutions.
• Strong knowledge of data structures algorithms design patterns data modeling and software architecture.
• Proficiency in Python Java and C plus plus with experience delivering production services and tools.
• Experience integrating machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow and model serving toolchains.
• Extensive mathematics and computer science foundations including probability statistics and algorithm analysis.
• Hands on experience building and integrating model training and inference components into operational dataflows and software systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases messaging systems and caching technologies.
• Proficiency with Git collaborative development issue tracking and Agile delivery.

Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

• Experience implementing secure software and AI solutions in Intelligence Community environments.
• Experience working with highly sensitive datasets and applying privacy preserving and data governance practices.
• Experience leading software initiatives mentoring engineers and driving architecture and design reviews.
• In depth knowledge of extract transform load pipelines data engineering best practices and distributed processing frameworks.
• Expertise building in Amazon Web Services including container orchestration with EKS or ECS infrastructure as code with CloudFormation or Terraform and observability with CloudWatch.
• Very strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and demonstrated success in collaborative cross functional teams.
• Familiarity with Docker Kubernetes MLflow or other model registries and monitoring and observability practices
