Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to
join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role will play a
mission critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity
systems, as well as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services.
This role delivers production ready AI and ML capabilities across natural language
processing, predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and hypothesis testing to automate
mission workflows. You will design systems that detect specific conditions in data and
trigger appropriate responses while aligning technical delivery with customer objectives in
a secure and fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions for classification, regression,
anomaly detection, and natural language processing that automate customer workflows and business processes.
• Engineer reliable data pipelines for model training and inference including extract transform load processes and feature engineering.
• Train, fine tune, evaluate, and optimize models and integrate pretrained models into existing software and dataflow architectures.
• Apply rigorous statistical analysis and hypothesis testing including experiment design and A B testing to validate performance.
• Implement ML operations practices including version control reproducibility continuous integration and delivery monitoring and drift detection.
• Develop secure auditable solutions suitable for environments with sensitive datasets.
• Leverage Amazon Web Services for scalable training and serving including services such as SageMaker EC2 EKS Lambda S3 and Step Functions.
• Collaborate with data engineering software engineering and mission teams and communicate results to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Create clear documentation diagrams and runbooks that support sustainment and knowledge transfer.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated ability to understand and automate customer workflows and business processes with AI solutions.
• Strong knowledge of data structures data modeling and software architecture.
• In depth experience with machine learning tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and common libraries like scikit learn.
• Extensive mathematics and computer science skills with a deep understanding of probability statistics and algorithms.
• Proficiency in AI and ML programming including Python Java and C plus and familiarity with environment management such as Conda and pip.
• Hands on experience training models and integrating pretrained models into operational dataflows and software systems.
• Experience with natural language processing techniques including tokenization embeddings and transformer architectures and with predictive modeling and rigorous model evaluation.
• Proficiency with Git based collaborative development and issue tracking.

Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Engineering or a related field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

• Experience implementing secure AI solutions within Intelligence Community environments.
• Experience working with highly sensitive datasets and applying privacy preserving and data governance practices.
• Experience leading AI and ML initiatives including mentoring or technical lead responsibilities.
• In depth knowledge of extract transform load pipeline implementation and data engineering best practices.
• Expertise building solutions in Amazon Web Services including SageMaker EKS or ECSIAM CloudWatch and Step Functions.
• Very strong problem solving and critical thinking skills demonstrated success in collaborative team environments.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes model registries such as MLflow and monitoring and observability practices
