Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Nuclear Surety Specialist to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, security, and reliability standards across all aspects of the program, including Launch Facilities (LFs), and Launch Control Facilities (LCs) and other Command and Launch components

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, program managers, and stakeholders to integrate nuclear surety requirements into system designs, operational procedures, and Facility Requirements Documents (FRDs).
  • Maintain the safety and security of nuclear assets while supporting the modernization efforts of the Sentinel Program.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear surety standards, including AFMAN 91-118, AFMAN 91-119, and AFI 91-101.
  • Conduct reviews of technical designs and operational plans to ensure adherence to nuclear safety and security criteria.
  • Identify potential risks to nuclear safety and security and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct safety analyses to evaluate the reliability and survivability of nuclear systems under hostile conditions (e.g., EMP, ground shock).
  • Provide technical expertise during the development of FRDs for the LFs, LCs and other Command and Launch facilities.
  • Support Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling and design reviews to ensure nuclear survivability.
  • Develop and maintain nuclear surety documentation, including compliance checklists, technical reports, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all nuclear surety requirements are accurately reflected in FRDs and program documentation


What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, nuclear science, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in nuclear surety compliance, safety, or security for defense programs.
  • Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and MIL-STD requirements.
  • Experience with nuclear weapon systems, facilities, or communication networks.
  • Experience supporting the Sentinel Program or similar ICBM modernization efforts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of EMP shielding and survivability design for nuclear systems is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear surety standards, including AFMAN 91-118, AFMAN 91-119, and AFI 91-101.
  • Proficiency in technical analysis tools (e.g., FEA software such as ANSYS or Abaqus).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and reporting requirements.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Certifications related to nuclear safety, security, or systems engineering are preferred


Security Clearance Requirement:
An active Top Secret security clearance is required for this position.
