Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence
Developer to join a highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role
will play a mission-critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy
cybersecurity systems, as well as the design and deployment of new enterprise security
services.
This is a hands-on technical and leadership role requiring deep experience in Agile
development, project integration, requirements analysis, and cross-functional team
coordination.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML capabilities (e.g., NLP pipelines, classification/regression models, anomaly detection) that automate customer workflows and business processes.
• Build systems that continuously detect mission-relevant conditions in streaming and batch data and execute policy-driven responses.
• Translate customer requirements into AI-enabled system requirements, features, and user stories within Agile frameworks.
• Architect and implement robust data pipelines (ETL—Extract/Transform/Load) and model training/inference workflows.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize models; integrate pre-trained models into existing dataflows and software architectures.
• Apply rigorous statistical analysis and hypothesis testing; design experiments and A/B tests to validate model and system performance.
• Implement MLOps best practices (versioning, CI/CD for models, monitoring/drift detection, reproducibility).
• Develop secure, auditable solutions appropriate for handling sensitive datasets and mission environments.
• Leverage AWS services (e.g., SageMaker, EC2/EKS, Lambda, S3, Step Functions) for scalable model training and serving.
• Collaborate across data engineering, software engineering, and mission teams;
present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, and runbooks to support sustainment and knowledge transfer.

Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated ability to understand and automate customer workflows and business processes with AI solutions.
• Strong foundations in data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
• In-depth experience with machine learning tools and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow (plus common libraries like scikit-learn).
• Extensive mathematics and computer science skills, with deep understanding of probability, statistics, and algorithms.
• Proficiency in AI/ML-oriented programming: Python, Java, and C++; familiarity with package/environment management (e.g., Conda, pip) and build tools.
• Hands-on experience training AI models and integrating pre-trained models into operational dataflows and software systems.
• Experience with NLP techniques (tokenization, embeddings, transformers), predictive modeling, and rigorous model evaluation.
• Proficiency with Git-based collaborative development and issue tracking.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
