Duties

  • You will provide technical support for various Information Technology (IT) systems, equipment and networks within the command.
  • You will diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, develop problem-solving procedures, maintain and upgrade network systems.
  • You will coordinate with customers and specialists, and train users on new systems and procedures.
  • You will ensure timely customer service and support, work with contracted vendors, and interpret IT regulations and policies.
  • You will Investigate, analyze, and evaluate reported problems in system software, applications software interfacing, and/or IT equipment to isolate causes of malfunctions.
  • You will develop standard procedures and solutions for recurring IT issues, plans for installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining user IT equipment and software.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Network Operations Specialist level Basic within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position requires occasional travel.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Network Operations Specialist, proficiency level Basic the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications.
  • Qualifications are required according to DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing customers with comprehensive technical support, ensuring systems reliability and efficiency for various Information Technology Systems- often relying on the ability to make quick changes on the job; 2) Setting up Audio/Visual equipment in support of high level meetings with command leadership and others; 3) Working closely with the Naval Base Kitsap Chief Information Office (CIO) and Region NW N65 Supervisor for to coordinate tasking, projects, and daily schedules; and 4) Managing desk phones and mobile devices; such as: iPhones, iPads, cellular phones, MiFi Jetpacks.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
