Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support the Sponsor’s Cyber Security Team in advancing mission-critical system security initiatives. This team is responsible for system assessments, authorizations, and security engineering across the system development lifecycle, enabling threat awareness and strengthening cyber resilience for enterprise and mission systems. Also providing expertise in cyber risk management, vulnerability assessment, and security engineering across both Cloud and On-Premise environments.
This position will involve supporting accreditation efforts, security operations, and proactive cyber defense activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Sponsor with shepherding multiple IT systems through the Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) processes.
• Support continuous monitoring of IT systems to sustain accreditations.
• Perform log analysis, malware detection, and mitigations to protect mission systems.
• Create A&A documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Continuous Monitoring Plans.
• Collaborate with Sponsor personnel to improve security metrics and reporting.
• Provide timely responses to questions from system security managers.
• Identify countermeasures to emerging IT threats and propose mitigation strategies.
• Perform configurations and management of security-related systems.
• Utilize security tools to conduct log analysis, vulnerability scanning, incident response, and automation of security tasks.
• Decompose customer requirements into technical security solutions.
• Participate and brief at information systems architectural boards at the Group level.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call support for security and system issues (24x7 rotation).
• Coordinate engineering projects, including performing technical risk assessments and resolving technical conflicts.
Required Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience in cyber security, InfoSec, security engineering, or network engineering.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
• Experience analyzing and documenting test results.
• Knowledge of assessing systems against information assurance policies and regulations.
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience coordinating and performing security testing.
• Experience developing risk assessment and certification reports.
• Experience leading security accreditation efforts for enterprise systems.
• Ability to recommend mitigating countermeasures for threats and vulnerabilities.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills for requirements specifications, design docs, test plans, and security plans.
• Experience decomposing functional requirements into technical requirements.
• Experience analyzing systems and identifying corrective actions and improvements.
• Experience preparing documentation such as CONOPS, SSPs, and accreditation materials.
Desired Skills
• Experience creating and maintaining integrated master schedules.
• Experience with offensive security practices (red teaming, penetration testing).
• Experience explaining technical procedures and processes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Certifications (Preferred)
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Security+
• OSCP, GIAC, or AWS Security Specialty
