Location: Hanover, MD
Shift: Day
Remote Type: Hybrid for candidates within 50 miles; remote with periodic travel if beyond 50 miles
Clearance: Active DoD Secret (Top Secret/SCI preferred)
Certification: Completion of DCSA/CDSE FSO training
Education: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Security Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Years of Experience: 5+ years in a cleared contractor security role, with prior experience as an FSO

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000

Description

At Altus Technology Solutions, we are looking for an experienced Facility Security Officer (FSO) & Business Operations Specialist to lead our security program and support our financial operations.

In this role, you will be the companys designated FSO, ensuring compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), while also supporting payroll, billing, and financial operations that keep our business running smoothly.

Primary Responsibilities

Security & Compliance (Primary Duties)

• Serve as the official Facility Security Officer (FSO) under the NISP.
• Manage personnel security clearances through DISS/NBIS, initiate and review eApps, and handle rejections/resubmissions.
• Conduct prescreens for new hires and provide clearance adjudication support.
• Prepare and submit DD254s; coordinate visit requests/certifications.
• Oversee fingerprinting and submission through SWFT.
• Manage CAC/TASS/SAAR verifications, renewals, and recertifications.
• Conduct security training and briefings, including onboarding, annual refreshers, and debriefings.
• Process out-processing for departing employees and ensure clearance termination.
• Coordinate insider threat reporting and audits with senior management.
• Submit CSRs for stalled investigations and respond to RFIs from clients and government customers.
• Track, reconcile, and maintain security records across DISS, NBIS, NISS, and internal systems.
• Support DOHA appeals and clearance adjudication processes as required.
• Act as the primary liaison with DCSA and government security officials.

Finance & Business Operations (Secondary Duties)

• Manage payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments.
• Support billing and invoicing for government contracts.
• Reconcile financial records and assist with monthly reporting.
• Provide general business operations support as needed.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret/SCI preferred).
• 5+ years experience in a cleared contractor environment, including direct experience as an FSO.
• Strong knowledge of NISPOM and experience preparing for DCSA inspections.
• Hands-on proficiency with DISS, NBIS, NISS, SWFT, and related security systems.
• Experience handling payroll, billing, AP/AR, and vendor management.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage sensitive information.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, leadership, and government officials.

Specialized Experience

• Prior FSO designation at a cleared contractor.
• Experience with security audits, insider threat reporting, and clearance adjudication support.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, Deltek, Unanet, or other accounting/payroll software.
• Proven ability to balance security compliance with business operations in a fast-paced environment
