More About the Role:
The Defense & Intelligence Group of Leidos has an opening for the Navy’s Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) NetOps Specialist in Diego Garcia. The SMIT contract will provide secure end-to-end Information Technology (IT) services to more than 400,000 hardware devices and 600,000+ users at over 1,600 Continental United States (CONUS) sites and over 82 OCONUS site across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East; constituting one of the largest combined networks in the world.
Under the OCONUS Piers portion of the contract, the Leidos team will provide pier side connect/disconnect service, network administration, and fiber optic cable repair supporting US Navy vessels arriving and departing from piers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This position will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the network infrastructure providing connectivity services to vessels in port. This will require the completion of daily checks, performing vulnerability scans, monitoring network connections, resolving, and reporting outages, and maintaining the lifecycle replacement of network equipment. The NetOps specialist may also assist in the connect/disconnect process for vessels arriving or departing from piers at their location. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in network administration and ideally experience operating and maintaining Navy networks.
What You'll Get to Do:
•Responsible for day-to-day activities of Network Operations.
•Advise on distributed network computing issues.
•Ensures effective and efficient operation of network systems, architecture, and topology.
•Assist the Cyber Team employ approved defense-in-depth principles and practices (e.g., defense-in-multiple places, layered defenses, and security robustness). Assist with the collection of intrusion artifacts (e.g., source code, malware, and trojans) and use discovered data to enable mitigation of potential computer network defense (CND) incidents within the enterprise.
•Assist in the Development and Update of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for connect/disconnect services, fiber optic cable testing, and fiber optic cable repair for the assigned region.
•Operate tools and equipment (including necessary protective equipment) that are required to repair and maintain UCA fiber optic cables.
•Conduct testing of UCA cables at required intervals to ensure the necessary supply of available fully operational UCAs is maintained.
•Update UCA status in the UCA tracker for the assigned region.
•Track planned arrival and departure of vessels at assigned piers and respond within the required service target to provide connect/disconnect service.
•Track daily activities in the approved ticketing system.
•Conduct inventory, maintenance and repair of UCA cables.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Requires a Bachelors’ Degree in a relevant field and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience (in the Network and Infrastructure field), or a Masters’ Degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
•Must be a US Citizen and have an active Secret Clearance.
•Must possess an IAT II level certification (CompTIA Security+, etc.).
•Must possess a Network Certification (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, etc.).
•Willing to provide On-Site/ On-call support. 24/7 365 days a year.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Possess a Microsoft Systems Certification (MCSA, MAAA, MDAA, etc.).
•Demonstrated hands-on expertise in networking technologies and data centers.
•Previous experience either in the military or as a contractor supporting pier side connect/disconnect service using either UCA or WPCS solutions.
•Hands-on Experience in working with DoD networks, including NIPR and SIPR.
•ACAS experience.
•Experience with ISP/OSP Fiber Cabling.
•Experience with Computer Hardware and Troubleshooting.
•Possess knowledge of troubleshooting point to point connections.
