Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their mission is to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

USD $57,800.00 - USD $90,350.00 /Yr.

Currently we are looking to hire a Technical Writer.
The Technical Writer will be:
- Subject matter expert with the U.S. Navy on surface fleet maintenance policies and procedures for Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems, particularly technical data, which is recorded information regardless of format, such as manuals or drawings of a scientific or technical nature.
- Develop moderately complex technical information, prepare written text and illustrations, and layout and organize technical documentation.
- Develop technical documentation in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and in SGML using Arbortext Editor for the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) Contenta system.
- Research and interpret design reports, drawings, equipment procedures, and test specifications.
- Write analytical and interpretive technical literature and procedures.
- Communicate with engineers and other personnel for information gathering.
- Perform Quality Assurance reviews.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university and 3 years of related experience.
- US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD Secret.
- Must possess a strong background with tools like Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Arbortext, XML/SGML tagging, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Arbortext Experience.
- ILS System Accesses.
- CONTENTA software familiarity.
- Familiarity with Military Documentation Standards (MILSTDS).
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in the planning and preparation of various types of technical documentation on Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment along with experience in the detailed information search and interpretation of technical data in the preparation of technical documentation.
- Prior experience working on U.S. Navy and/or other DoD programs preferred.
